Congratulations to Tate Van Beek and the Girls State Champion Tennis Team for being chosen as Stevens Raiders “Athletes of the Week!” Here are their nominations:
Tate Van Beek (Cross Country): Tate has been a consistent #2 man and team leader for our boys this season. Last Friday, he had a career-best race at the Leroy Sprague Invite in Cheyenne, finishing 8th in a quality field, helping the boys to a runner-up finish behind Casper Kelly Walsh.
Girls Tennis State Champions: Arabella Scott won flight 2 doubles at state finishing with a 29-1 record and also took 3rd place at Flight 1 singles finishing with a 23-6 record. Bella was our leader on an off the courts and competed at the highest level all year. She won her third individual title this year and 3rd team title.
Sylvie Mortimer won Flight 2 singles at state finishing with a 24-6 record and also took 4th place at Flight 1 doubles finishing with a 25-5 record.Sylvie played her best tennis at the state tournament. She helped lead her team to a team title while capturing her first individual title.
Ella Potvin won Flight 3 singles at state finishing with a 29-0 record and also took 4th place at Flight 1 doubles finishing with a 25-5 record.Ella who is only an 8th grader won her 2nd straight singles title this year in dominating fashion.
Madison Marsh won Flight 4 singles at state finishing with a 30-0 record and also won Flight 3 doubles finishing with a 30-0 record.Maddy finished the season 60-0. This is tied for the best single season record in school history.
Bella Nelson won Flight 5 singles at state finishing with a 29-2record and also won Flight 3 doubles finishing with a 30-0 record.Bella took home two titles this year. Her attitude on and off the court was an example for all her teammates and opponents.
Elena Braun won Flight 2 doubles finishing with a 29-1 record.Elena teamed with Bella Scott to win a doubles title in her first year on varsity.Brooke Cadwallader took 3rd place at Flight 6 singles and finished with a 27-4 record.Brooke was our lone senior, and she worked so hard to make the varsity this year. She had a wonderful season.
