Homecoming is a highlight of the school year, but how do different grades experience this special week? I spoke with three students—a freshman, a junior, and a senior—to get their perspectives on this year’s homecoming.
Homecoming is a unique week where the usual rules are relaxed, allowing students to show off their school spirit leading up to the big football game. Stevens High School is known for its outgoing spirit during this time, from dress-up days to the packed stands at the game. Freshman Kaydence Serrano Rivera described the week as “Exciting but a little overwhelming,” a statement many can likely relate to.
Seniors, however, have a different perspective, as this marks their fourth and final homecoming. Senior Chloe Jenson shared her anticipation for this year: “I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. My favorite part was dressing up and taking pictures, especially wearing the toga. I’ve been waiting to do that!” She also encourages underclassmen to participate as much as they can, “I would tell younger students to enjoy homecoming and participate in dressing up because it makes the experience more exciting.”
Homecoming was capped off with coronation and the football game.
