Congratulations to Joe Juenger and Bella Morteo for being chosen as Stevens Raiders “Athletes of the Week!” Here are their nominations:
Joe Juenger (Wrestling): Joe is a senior who excels in his academy and the sport of wrestling. This weekend Joe was crowned champion at the Mandan Lions Tournament. He finished the weekend 6-1. He avenged his loss from day one. He beat the wrestler from Bismarck High by major decision. Joe is a great example of what our students can get out of Stevens. Joe will also complete his acceptance to West Point Academy this next summer.
Bella Morteo (Wrestling): Bella finished Champion of the 185# girls’ class this weekend in Custer. Bella finished all 3 opponents by pin fall. In the championship she beat the Spearfish 2x returning state placer. She wrestled to best abilities. Last season she was ranked #5 prior to a season ending knee injury. Currently she is ranked #3 after week 1. Excited to see her development this season.
