Congratulations to Jack Koscak, Rachael Bunger, and Isabella Hammell for being chosen as Stevens Raiders “Performer of the Week!” Here are their nominations:
Jack Koscak (Band): Jack has done an exceptional job of stepping up and leading the Symphonic Band while Mr. Dragoo had to be absent. He took the initiative to step up in front of the class and direct. He spent time working on the music and helping guide the group to productive and worthwhile rehearsals. As a student in can be intimidating to step in front of your peers and take a leadership role…but Jack did so with confidence and professionalism. We have heard countless compliments from students and staff alike.
Rachael Bunger (Orchestra): Rachael joined the Symphonic Orchestra this fall and has quickly become a strong presence in the violin section. She has been a member of the SD All-State Orchestra for the past two years (2nd Chair First Violin this year!) and will soon join the ranks of the J. Laiten Weed Honors Orchestra. She recently received top honors at a Solo Competition at Black Hills State University and this past fall had the immense opportunity to play her solo with the BHSU Dakota Chamber Orchestra. An outstanding achievement! In addition to all of this, Rachael is ever ready to help play in a quartet or lend her talents to provide entertainment for Habitat for Humanity.
Isabella Hammell (Band): Isabella earned first chair percussionist in the 2025 Rapid City Honor Band. This is a great accomplishment as she was competing against all percussionists from both Stevens and Central. She has taken the initiative to work outside of class time an impressive amount. She is also stepping up as the only freshman percussionists at Stevens to audition for the South Dakota All State Band next week. Bella’s dedication and hard work has been an example to those around her, and has paid off in countless ways.
