Baseball has been decent so far this year. Thus far the team has played 8 games in total, two of which came against Gillette. While these do not count in the overall standings, they have been a good test for the teams and a chance for them to work out some of the kinks.
As with most spring sports, the weather has been a factor in the amount of time seen on the diamond. Currently, the team is ranked 4th in the state and the game plan is to continue with hard hits and tough defense to keep their current rank.

Senior Teagen Smith thinks that “The season has been off to a rocky start but with our trip to tea coming up. It should start coming together and we should be ready for state.”
While the Varsity continues to improve their record, the Junior Varsity is holding its own. In 15 games their record is 12-3. And they have a good chance to win the JV state championship if they keep playing with this intensity level.

The boys are also spending time advocating for the upgrade of McKeague field and getting their sport sanctioned by the South Dakota State High School Activities Association.
This weekend the team travels to Sioux Falls this weekend and play Tea and Aberdeen.
