Congratulations to Jess Christensen and Ava Holzwarth for being chosen as Stevens Raiders “Athlete of the Week!” Here are their nominations:
Jess Christensen (Track & Field): Jess put on a show in the field and on the track, claiming victories in the long jump and triple jump, along with a second-place finish in the 110m hurdles. Both of his jumps were personal records and are now ranked #1 in the state. To top it off, he was recently crowned Mr. SHS!
Ava Holzwarth (Track & Field): Ava had a breakout performance at the West River AA Preview Track & Field Meet! She won both the long jump and triple jump and finished second in the 100m and 200m dashes. Ava set a new school record in the long jump with a massive leap of 19’6″, shattering the previous mark by over a foot. That jump now ranks as the third-best all-time in South Dakota history!
