The final stretch is here – Stevens High School Seniors, Class of 2025, are just a few weeks away from finishing up their high school year with graduation and transitioning into the world known as adulthood.
Seniors, while they are all on different journeys, are still all the same. Though their paths may go their separate ways, a common thread unites the Class of 2025: the exciting yet intimidating prospect of stepping onto that stage and into their futures, all while savoring the precious remaining moments of their shared high school journey.
For many, the lead-up to this milestone has been a rollercoaster of emotions. Senior Daphne White stated that she is excited to move on to a new chapter in her life, get away from home, and live life the way she wants to for a little bit. She is also excited to be done with school for a few months, while senior Tyler Portlock said that he feels it went by fast, and it’s crazy that it’s coming soon. He is really excited for the future and really excited to graduate and pursue his passion for Exercise Science at Black Hills State.
This year has been full of “lasts” experienced as cherished “firsts” of their final high school chapter. From the senior sunrise to the senior assassin and the fun of the senior picnic, they have embraced the traditions that bind them. From homecoming to prom, sports to pep assemblies, these are the memories they’ll carry beyond the graduation stage.
Senior Mason Brooks stated, “My best high school memory would be hanging out with friends in my free time and playing high school baseball with the boys. I am excited that graduation is coming up, but also a little nervous about seeing what the future holds. At the same time, I am excited to have a fresh start and start my own life”. His path is already set: Dakota State University awaits, where he’ll continue his academic pursuits in business management while taking the pitcher’s mound and first base.
As the calendar inches closer to May 25th, a noticeable mix of anticipation and nostalgia hangs in the air for the Stevens High School Class of 2025. From the thrill of senior sunrise to the playful chaos of senior assassin and the bittersweet lasts of cherished high school traditions, these final weeks are a collection of memories made and lessons learned.
Though each senior charts a unique path into adulthood, a shared sense of readiness unites them. Whether it’s Daphne’s eagerness for independent living, Tyler’s amazement at how quickly time has flown, or Mason’s determined stride towards his academic and athletic pursuits at Dakota State, they all stand poised on the threshold of new beginnings. With diplomas in sight, these seniors are not just closing one chapter, but eagerly turning the page to the next, ready to embrace the world that awaits.
