Rushmore Bowl trophy comes back to Stevens

Get ready for an intense showdown! At tonight’s Rushmore Bowl, the Stevens Raiders will face off with Sturgis at the School of Mines and Technology. After a disappointing loss to Sioux Falls Lincoln, the boys are eager to make today’s game a decisive win.

When asked about their feelings about the game, Senior Ben Goldy said, “I’m feeling very confident that if we go out there and focus on executing every single play well while also picking up positive yards each play, that we will be very successful at the end of the game.” Through their losses this season, the team has refined their plays to ensure that they improve for their next game.

Senior Jevon McNabb offered some insight into what they focused on in practice before this game,
“We really focused on just working as a team. A lot of times, it has been offense and defense playing at two different sides of the ball. I think that if we can come together collectively as one team, it could really make a difference in the game.”

With the Raiders practiced and ready to take on Sturgis, fans should be looking forward to a great game.
“This season has had a lot of ups and downs so far, a lot more than last year,” said Sophomore Bryce Swanson, “I think that because of that, we have more motivation for tonight’s game and the rest of the season.”

While all three players interviewed were optimistic about their chances of winning the game, they all stated that it’s important not to be overconfident. Instead, the team will go in with the mindset of it being a challenging match and play their best.

Finally, the players all agreed that the more fans there, and the more cheering there is, the better they will play. So, if you’re free, head out to SDSMT to support the team tonight at 8:15 PM. Go Raiders!

UPDATE: SCORE! the Stevens Raiders defeated the Sturgis Scoopers 38 to 21. Congratulations to the team!
