For a whole month, the school went pink on Wednesdays. It was perhaps the most “Fetch” thing that had happened in a while. All in an effort to suport the spring musical, Mean Girls.
The play, featuring Haley Hoffman as Cady Heron and Maisy Peterson as Regina George was, by all accounts, a smashing success. With three nights of high school drama played out on the stage it was nice to see the confidence and energy level the cast brought to the stage.
Sophomore Kelly Sudyatmiko played Lizzie Therman. Sudyatmiko was not at all nervous about the play. She believed the dances were difficult to learn, but the narrative was simple. Having a packed theatre made performing in the play that much more fun for Sudyatmiko.
Unlike the students in Mean Girls, the audience truly wanted to be there and were happy to stay past four.
“I will keep you here all night.” – Principal Duvall (Trystn Valladoild)
“We can’t keep them past four.” – Secretary
“I will keep you here ’til four.” – Principal Duvall
The spring musical combines theatre students with the choir and band. In a truly cross-curricular effort, these groups blend seamlessly for a phenomenal show.
Sudyatmiko intends to join theater next year. She enjoys performing and considers it a fun experience.
While ticket sales in the past were limited to phone and in-person purchases, those wishing to see future shows in the Milo Winter Auditorium can now scan a QR code to purchase tickets.
