Students had the fun opportunity to make homemade composters with Environmental Science and Biology educator Mrs. Wiedrich. Made by using leftover two-liter bottles. The activity helped students learn about composting in a fun and hands-on way.
During the project, students added layers like soil, food scraps, and other organic materials into their bottles. Over time, these materials break down and turn into compost, which can be used to help plants grow. Instead of throwing food away, composting lets it be reused.
Students enjoyed the activity because it was different from normal classwork. It was easy to understand and something they could try at home.
Overall, the project showed students how small actions, like composting, can make a difference for the environment.
