March roared in like a lion challenging staff and students to Spread the Word. As a part of Special Olympics, Spread the Word, encouraged students and staff to take the pledge to step into leadership roles, committing to shaping a more inclusive world.
Students in Ms. Britton’s class, E113, were posted up in the link armed with sharpies and Spread the Word pledge cards, for Raiders to sign.
In its first year with Ms. Britton, students and staff showed up. “We are overwhelmed by your kindness and support. It was so much fun to meet new people and to be able to interact with you.”
According to the Special Olympics website, a “pledge signifies a powerful stance against derogatory language targeted at individuals with intellectual disabilities. Your commitment calls for change, inspiring others to follow suit and join the collective effort to eliminate discriminatory language. Together, we can create a society where everyone is valued, celebrated, and free from the impact of harmful stereotypes.”
Over 160 staff and students made a pledge to Spread the Word that Your Words Matter.
