Going into this weekend’s football game, the Stevens Raiders are sitting at two wins and three losses as they look to defeat Sioux Falls Lincoln who is also two and three on the season.

“I think we have a chance, we just have to come out strong and not be soft,” said Junior Offensive Lineman Thomas Martian.  Members of the team agree that Stevens can’t overthink it and limit the small mistakes and go out and just play football. “To win the game we need to be assignment perfect and execute on all sides of the ball whether its offense, defense or special teams. I think that if we come out and execute, we will come out of the game victorious,” says Junior Defensive End Bryce Swanson.

Martian says he just has to come out aggressive because Sioux Falls Lincoln has a pretty good “D” line, adding that he can’t be scared.

While Homecoming does make some of the players nervous because of the big student section, Martian says the team just needs to be ready to play. Swanson likes the history behind the game and the meaning that it carries with it, “I think homecoming is a different then any other game because there’s a special meaning behind it. It has been a tradition for as long for ever and is sort of just a big party for the students.”

The team is hoping to carry that party on to the field and come up with their third win of the season.

The Raiders play Sioux Falls Jefferson next week at O’Harra Stadium.
